Sugar program passes billions onto consumers

In a report filed by Amy Green, in collaboration with The Florida Center for Investigative Reporting and WMFE Public Broadcasting in Orlando has found that a "complex government program of import tariffs and farmer loans establishing the price of sugar, which is responsible for the success of Florida’s $616 million sugar industry, comes at a cost to consumers to the tune of about $2 billion annually in increased food prices."
