Sponsorship Information
We are pleased to announce that Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) will bring its annual IRE Conference to Boston on June 14 - 17, 2012.
The conference will feature more than 130 panels and hands-on training sessions led by top investigative journalists and experts on a multitude of cutting-edge and timely investigative topics over 3 ½ conference days. Sessions will take place at the Boston Marriott Copley Place. We expect to draw around 800 – 1,000 journalists from the region, across the U.S. and internationally.
Each year we depend deeply on the generosity and support of media organizations, foundations and corporations to conduct our conferences. The conferences benefit journalists by offering not only story ideas, but also the guidance in techniques and resources needed to carry out those ideas. They also provide a great recruiting opportunity for conference sponsors.
Support from our sponsors helps us keep our registration fees low – registration is $200 in early bird registration fees for the main conference days for IRE members, thus ensuring our attendance remains robust when training and travel budgets are lean.
At the 2011 IRE Conference in Orlando, participants shared investigative tips and ideas on how to dig deeper into stories, hold government and business leaders accountable, collaborate with readers/viewers as well as other news organizations and establish and manage nonprofit investigative centers, among other things. Turnout was excellent – about 850 journalists from the U.S. and countries around the world came together, shared knowledge, exchanged ideas for the future and celebrated the best investigative journalism of the year. That speaks volumes to the need for the resources, training and community of support that IRE offers.
IRE is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) educational and professional organization of more than 4,000 journalists working to foster excellence in journalism. Founded in 1975, IRE provides extensive training and resources through seminars, publications and Web site: www.ire.org. IRE also runs the National Institute for Computer-Assisted Reporting, a joint program of IRE and the Missouri School of Journalism. IRE has its offices at the University of Missouri.
Please note that we are open to customizing the sponsorship packages. Please contact IRE Development Officer Alan Lynes for more information at (573) 884-2222 or alan@ire.org.
