Senior Content Editor

The Senior Editor for Content oversees the newsroom's assigning editors and reporters, and serves as the key organizational member for the editorial board. The position partners with the senior editor for platforms to ensure that the right stories are hitting our platforms at the perfect time.

This critical leadership role reports to the Coloradoan's Executive Editor and supervises the newsroom's three assigning editors, as well as their teams of reporters.

Duties include managing a trio of assigning editors to make sure that daily enterprise coverage is top notch while not neglecting breaking news on our web and app platforms. The position will also assist in writing topical, thoughtful editorials 3-4 times per week. The right candidate will be organized and have a head for motivating and teaching.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field and five years of experience in newspapers or mass media or equivalent education and experience. Four years of experience in a management position preferred with demonstrated skills in staff development. Experience with open records and media law preferred.
