Investigative producer/photojournalist
Join one of the best major-market investigative team in the country. Stories by KMGH-TV’s CALL7 Investigators regularly lead to changes in laws and policies, spark audits, close down questionable businesses and start criminal investigations that have led to felony indictments.
We have won every major broadcast journalism award in the past four years, including a DuPont/Columbia, a Peabody and two national Murrow Awards. We are looking to expand the seven-person team by hiring a producer/photographer to join the unit.
To be considered, you must have strong shooting and editing experience in FinalCut as well as considerable reporting, Computer-Assisted Reporting and public records search experience. We are not looking for someone who can just shoot and edit video or someone who can just report a story. We need someone with advanced skills in both areas and a proven track record of breaking big stories. We will consider people with at least 3 years investigative experience in medium to large markets.
A successful candidate will work with our three on-air reporters as well as two other producers and two photojournalists to help bring the team to even a higher level. We are the go-to news outlet in Colorado for serious government investigations and consumer reporting.
If you are interested in holding government officials and unethical businesses accountable, please apply to www.scripps.com first and then e-mail a cover letter, resume and internet links of 3-5 recent pieces to Arthur.kane@kmgh.com. Please make sure to include examples of both shooting and editing and reporting and describe your contributions on each story.
No phone calls.
Also indicate if you will be at the IRE conference in Boston in June as I would like to conduct some preliminary interviews there.
KMGH is an E.W. Scripps station and an Equal Opportunity Employer.
