Money, Truth and Spin
Former Canada Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and middleman Karlheinz Schreiber had a secret that lasted more than a decade. The pair had met in North American hotels three times, with Schreiber handing Mulroney envelopes totaling $300,000 in cash, money from a secret Swiss bank account. The scandal centered around "the steering of an Air Canada aircraft order to a firm for which Schreiber acted as promoter." Mulroney denied accepting a bribe.

Choppers, Plots, and Cold Hard Cash
The Canadian Broadcasting Corp. tells the story of Karlheinz Schreiber, the "man who was the catalyst for the party funding scandal in Germany, thus forcing the resignations of a handful of CDU politicians, including the current party leader, and former Chancellor Helmut Kohl from his post as honorary chairman. It also caused former Deputy Defense Minister Holger Pfahls to flee the country after being charged with receiving a bribe from Schreiber. Schrieber is also well known in Canada, mainly for his secret dealings with members of the Conservative Party in the 1980s and early 1990s under then Prime Minister Brian Mulroney."

The Last Amigo: Karlheinz Schreiber and the Anatomy of a Scandal
Cameron and Cashore tell the inside story of a "notorious middleman and arms dealer, Karlheinz Schreiber, and his connections to elite circles of power in Germany, Canada and all over the world." The book reveals that Schreiber was a key player in the party finance scandal that discredited the former Chancellor of Germany Helmut Kohl. The coauthors shed light on the police findings that led to the arrest of the businessmen, and find letters and bank records that document Schreiber's tireless dealmakings. Schreiber was charged with tax evasion and bribery. In fact the scope "disguised web of power and money" was much larger, including shameless political influence and pressure on media coverage.
