Property Tax Scam
An investigation by the Chicago Sun-Times reveals that "in Chicago, politicans and those with the right connections can get their property taxes slashed merely by asking the Cook County Board of Review to lower the value of their home. The board's staff concocted evidence to support slashing the assessed value on the homes for elected officials and two board employees, decisions that saved them thousands of dollars in taxes.
