The book tells the story of the murders of three 8 - year - old boys in West Memphis, Arkansas, during the spring of 1993, and the subsequent trials of three West Memphis teenagers who were convicted of the killings. The book examines the claims by authorities that boys were slain in a "satanic" ritual; the questionable evidence-gathering techniques of police; the media hysteria that surrounded the slaying; and the subsequent developments that have cast doubt on the validity of the convictions.
