Bump and Run
KOAT-TV investigated how a New Mexico Indian Pueblo "secretly evaded hundreds of thousands of dollars in gasoline taxes through a fraud scheme called bump and run.... It means a fraudulent transaction where (Native American wholesale gasoline distribution businesses) bring product onto the reservation, they don't offload it, all they do is stamp that it has been offloaded, and take it into the marketplace and sell it tax-free."

Tennessee Bridges
WSMV's story found that Department of Transportation employee Mike Klahr, who was supposed to inspect the most dangerous bridges in middle Tennessee, never went near a bridge during an eight-day surveillance. Instead, he ran a private painting business on state time, watered his lawn on state time and often worked as little as one hour a day. A computer-assisted investigation found plenty of work to do on Tennessee bridges. The series also discloses how Tennessee closes its bridge inspection records to the public.

One in four bridges is structurally deficient, and 29 bridges are so dangerous that people shouldn't be driving over them - yet they are open to the public.

CBS News reveals the story of a long hidden danger in an American icon, the 1964 to 1970 model Ford Mustang. About 1.5 million of these remain on the road today. The investigation finds a flaw in the design that has led to many deaths and injuries. Ford has been sued more than 70 times after rear end collisions where occupants were sprayed with burning gasoline.

Sinking of the Bell Marine Barge
A company's neglect cost two men their lives. The investigation found that the capsizing of a sand barge could have been prevented. The barge, a World War II troop transport ship, should not have been in service because it was full of holes. The negligent owner was running the company from prison.
