Flood Cars
WRAL-TV investigated what happens to vehicles after the insurance process was over. "...right after Hurricane Floyd flooded our area, we gathered vehicle identification numbers from flood damaged cars. ... Our findings show most of the cars are sent all over the country and even out of the country. They went to places where potential buyers would either not know about the floods here or not grasp the severity of them."

Durham Grade Changes: A Step Too Far?
WRAL-TV examines whether "schools are lowering the standards for athletes ... just so they can play ball." The report details how a school principal has changed the grades of a student to keep him eligible for football. The report shows "that the student and the parents were part of the problem." It also discover that the grade change violates the state Educator code of ethics, but is allowed under the state law.

Bahamas or Bust
An investigation by WRAL-TV finds that many luxury cruise vacations that are offered at a bargain price often end up costing the consumer much more than anticipated. WRAL-TV took one of the trips, posing as vacationers. (May 19, 20 and 21, 1996)

As a staff attorney for the Watergate Committee, Rufus Edmisten served a subpoena on then-President Richard Nixon. Edmisten parlyed his reputation as a reformer taking on powerful interests into a political career in his native North Carolina, servins as Attorney General and now Secretary of State. But WRAL-TV documented how Edmisten himself used the trappings of power: staff, cars, cell phones, travel and patronage paid for by the taxpayers to benefit himself and his friends.
