In Iowa Meat Plant, Kosher 'Jungle' Breeds Fear; Injury, Short Pay

'Canned hunts' target of controversy
The Inquirer explores hunting preserves, enclosed areas where trophy-quality and exotic animals can be killed by hunters for a fee. Animal rights activists are appalled. Members of hunting groups that advocate "ethical," non-fenced hunting label the hunts "despicable." Canned-hunt owners say no one can tell them what to do on their own property. The controversial issue is that the animals don't seem to stand a chance. Many such hunts guarantee a kill, and customers rarely need hunting licenses and may hunt out of season.
