Small Business Anxiety
An investigation by the Kansas City Star reveals that the Small Business Administration gives most of its government-guaranteed loans to firms located middle- and high-income areas. The paper discovered that minority-owned businesses receive less than 15 percent of the SBA loans, despite efforts by the administration to target minority owners.

The Tangled Web
Legal malpractice is a burgeoning field for lawyers, and others who represent claimants. For the rest of the profession, lawsuits against lawyers are a major source of anxiety. The larger law firms, at one time seemingly invincible, are particularly hard hit. People don't sue them because they would fight. A lot of complicated malpractice cases are based upon allegations that lawyers failed to fill their ethical responsibilities.

But, on the other side, the newfound faith in Ritalin's power to rescue people from the turmoils and anxieties of life has spurred controversy about the American quest for perfection. The increasingly vocal opponents of the drug are asking a pressing question: Do our rigid ideas about appropriate behavior and intolerance of individuality result in a Stepford society?

Dateline NBC exposes the dangers of "lifted vehicles", i.e. trucks that are jacked up higher than the manufacturer specifications, using aftermarket kits. The kits allow an owner to raise the vehicle's body two to sixteen or more inches off the ground. Raising the bumper height looks "cool" but increases the chance of an accident 11 times.
