  • Puppy Heartbreak

    The website for South-Flordia's Wizard of Claws was known for selling dogs to celebrities along with many other customers, claiming its dogs to be of the best quality. But the dogs people received were very sick and unhealthy, some even dying. Some of the dogs were traced back to the "puppy mills" of the Midwest, where animals are poorly bred under even worse conditions

  • Cat Claw

    WTVG-TV investigates an area veterinarian and a new questionable product used to declaw cats. The station began its investigation after a "desperate pet owner called ... about a horrible ending to her cat's declawing surgery. There was a major complication and her cat had to have a paw amputated."

  • Tough Luck for the Innocent Man

    ABA Journal reports as scientific breakthroughs help overturn more convictions of wrongly imprisoned people, the new crime is how little their lost lives are worth. The few who can prove government misconduct may win lucrative civil-rights lawsuits. Fewer still may persuade legislators to pass special bills compensating them. But the majority either get nothing or scrape and claw for merely a token sum from state compensation systems.
