"Money and Influence Peddling in the Vatican"
Reporter Jason Berry took an in-depth look at how sexual abuse in the Catholic Church was allowed to continue. His series of stories that appeared in the National Catholic Reporter, focused on Father Marcial Maciel Degollado, a prominent figure in the Church. Berry revealed that Maciel, who has allegedly sexually abused his seminarians since the 1950s, has been making payments to various Vatican officials that have "insulated the priest from punishment."

Linking campaign and lobbyist spending to legislation, the stories showed how lawmakers have favored lobbyists and their pet causes over the public interest, And we discovered that the Texas Ethics Commission has failed to property investigate complaints of violations and allowed questionable practices to continue.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports about a twelve-year, ongoing investigation into the relationship between the Atlanta airport, and several former City councilmen, has lead to seven people, including two former or current Atlanta City councilmen to be indicted. Two businessmen have also pleaded guilty.
