MSD
Corruption in the Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District. The MSD oversees sewer treatment, storm water management and Ohio river flood control for the several hundred thousand people who live in Louisville and Jefferson County, Kentucky. Throughout the investigation, The Courier-Journal discovered that MSD board members owned companies that they were doing business with the agency they served, excessive bonuses to top officials, and a secret $140,000 lawsuit with an HR chief when he threatened a whisteblower lawsuit.

Washed Away
This investigation revealed the "huge environmental risk to North Carolina's lakes and rivers when you combine a poorly run state restoration program with state and federal rules that do not stress water quality improvements." It was found, among other things, that the state spent $140 million on faulty water projects.

A Failure to Warn
The investigation shows why flood predictions for Nashville have been very inaccurate. The Army Corps of Engineers and the National Weather Service had not alerted the government or the public that water was being released into the Cumberland River. The reporter finds that the two agencies barely communicated during the floods, leading to the spread of incorrect information.

"Barnegat Bay Under Stress"
This series of stories investigates the gradual demise of Barnegat Bay, the "largest coastal estuary" in New Jersey. Reporters found that thousands of pounds of fertilizer and other "land-borne pollution" is flowing into the bay. The investigative series resulted in Gov. Chris Christie shutting down a nearby nuclear power plant and earmarking millions of dollars for "special environmental control funding."

Killing Fields: Long Road to Justice
“An investigation of Khmer Rouge tribunal being held in Cambodia and allegations of corruption”. Further, the investigation began with the hunt for Ta Chan who was the chief interrogator and suspected of living in a remote Cambodian village. Also, torture was a daily experience for many of the prisoners being held and resulted in a number of deaths.

Rohingya: A Forgotten People
This investigation reveals abuse committed by the Thai Military against Rohingya minorities fleeing from Burma. The Thai Military would intercept Rohingya boats with refugees aboard and tow them out to the middle of the sea and leave them without adequate supplies. Being without food and water many of the Rohingya refugees died, but the numbers are unclear as to how many people actually died.

"Furnasman"
The heating and air conditioning company, Furnasman, routinely fabricated problems in their client's homes in an attempt to sell them unneeded equipment. Canadian Broadcasting Corp. set up hidden cameras in different homes and asked the company to clean and evaluate the furnaces. They found most technicians were not doing their job and were making bogus claims on the state of the furnaces to make a sale.

Through the Cracks
The 1988 brutal rape and murder of a young mother and her daughter has left the child's grandmother, Phyllis Little, with 21 years of questions. In 2009, the NYPD announced they had arrested a man and charged him with the double-murder. Reporter Joshua Kors provides a detailed look at the lives of the murdered mother, as well as the man accused of killing her. Kors also describes the pain and guilt felt by Little for more than two decades.
