    Many Americans who are looking for cheap plastic surgery go to Mexico to find it. Gomez found that most clinics are uncredited and hire surgeons who are uncertified or are simply poor at the job. Those who want to get plastic surgery in Mexico are advised to do their homework before departing.

  • The New Segregation

    The News & Observer investigated the resegregation of North Carolina schools and found that: segregation leads to lower academic achievement in all minority groups, resegregation is hurting middle-class black children more than any other group, the racial mix of schools has little effect on white students' scores, predominantly black schools are more likely to have inexperienced and uncertified teachers. The series resulted in $10 million in state funds being given to struggling schools.

  • "Everyone Let These Kids Down: The Definitive Story of How Five Children Made It Through Third Grade and Still Can't Read"

    This four-part series reveals how the New York City School System fails to sufficiently educate elementary school children to their appropriate level, forcing tens of thousands of children to stay behind due to the advent of standardized testing. A computer-assisted reporting project revealed a correlation between low student testing scores and high percentages of uncertified teachers.
