Description

A few Illinois state senators who receive extensive contributions from special interest groups control the purse-strings for campaign cash and, accordingly, wield great influence over other state legislators. Also, Illinois' campaign finance regulations are lax compared to national and other state rules. The Tribune uses computer assisted reporting to track the flow of campaign contributions.
