This story exposed the sheriff of a Columbus, Ohio area county abusing his position. Our investigation exposed the sheriff using county resources and time to support an affair with his subordinate. While the sheriff tried to hide his actions, through informed sources and dogged reporting, his secret was revealed. His own political party revolted and forced his resignation within days of our first story. The Sheriff agreed to repay the county to avoid prosecution. His paramour--a deputy--was later fired.
