Description

Jack O'Malley has been called the "Golden Boy" of the Republican Party in Illinois. The Cook County State's Attorney has been seen as a clean-cut fighter of crime--and mentioned frequently as a sure bet for highter state or national office. But Unit 5 found another side to Jack O'Malley: An atmosphere in his office--and in his campaign committee--of suspicion and paranoia. A disgruntled former employee of O'Malley's came forward to Unit 5 with startling revelations of the activities in O'Malley's county office and his campaign, including political espionage, misuse of county funds for political purposes, and politically motivated hirings and firings, September - October 1994.
