The federal government suspended all research studies involving human subjects at the University of Virginia in December, 1994 because of violations by the institution of federal regulations governing the conduct of this research. The Chronicle of Higher Education finds that universities do not always comply with federal regualtion meant to protect their subjects. (April 14, 1995)
