Description

The label, made in America, now means at least half the time that a garment is made by sweatshop labor. CBS News reports a renewed reliance by the hard pressed U.S. garment industry on the use of sweatshops. The program documents that major retailers like Target Stores and famous designers like Clavin Klein have contracted with manufacturers who violated labor and safety laws. The failure of the federal government to move against the famous El Monte, California slavery ring, is detailed despite repeated warnings form one of its lead agents. (Dec. 21, 1995)
