Description

New Times investigates Jawad Hashim, a former Iraqi planning minister of Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. Hashim is said to have defrauded the Arab Monetary Fund of millions of dollars. In 1993, the AMF won a $160 million judgment against Hashim, who fled to England. Now residing in Scottsdale, Arizona, New Times finds that Hashim has declared bankruptcy in an attempt to the AMF from collecting its money. (May 18 - 24, 1995)
