Description

For years black elected officials have charged that the American political system undermines them with incriminating media leaks, damaging public investigations and prosecutions based more on race than justice. This Emerge magazine article investigates the conviction of black Illinois congressman, Mel Reynolds, for seducing his 16-year-old campaign volunteer, Beverly Heard. The article compares Reynolds' case to similar cases involving white members of the House or Senate.
