Description

In 2015, a local substitute teacher is accused of molesting a young student in school. He’s quietly fired, and never questioned or even contacted by police. He goes on to teach at several other school districts. Three years later, police finally announce charges.

But by then, police say, the accused teacher had graduated from rape…to attempted murder. After he was charged for sodomy in 2018 for this case, he allegedly began plotting a murder-for-hire scheme with his boyfriend. The charges say that while behind bars, the teacher hired a fellow inmate slated for release to kill the child victim and their entire family. Investigators also soon learned the teacher was HIV positive and charged him with exposing the child to the virus.

For months the I-Team pieced together how the police, several school districts and the state all dropped the ball and allowed an accused sexual predator to move from school to school without anyone sounding the alarm.
