KING 5’s series “Veterans for Profit” uncovered corruption and exploitation inside one of Washington state’s oldest nonprofits dedicated to supporting military veterans in need. We exposed how Veterans Independent Enterprises of Washington (VIEW) harmed dozens of homeless and disabled veterans after the organization hired a new leader with a documented history of forgery, theft and charity fraud. This report revealed the leader, Rosemary Hibbler, embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars from the charity. While veterans went without promised social services, groceries and paychecks for working at the VIEW, we found Hibbler spent their money gambling at casinos.
