Description

The Arizona Republic in June published a detailed story on the unusual practice of a funeral director taking over people’s estates. Through the court, he would get himself appointed executor when someone died and a relative couldn’t immediately be found. Then his funeral home would start excessive fees to the estates.

One gentleman’s estate was billed more than $30,000 in funeral and burial expenses, when the median cost of such services nationally is $7,360.
