Description

Naval aviation fighter jet trainee Lt. Courtland Savage knew that his coursework was exacting and difficult, but he was told he was getting a fair shot, and treated just the same as the white student aviators who made up the majority of his class. Behind closed doors, however, instructor pilots in a group chat called “Pure Bloods” talked trash about Savage and another black student. Even the call sign they picked for Savage -- Radio -- was a demeaning reference to his race.
