Description

On September 25th, 2019, the White House released its notes from President Trump’s July phone call with the new Ukrainian leader, Volodymyr Zelensky, in which Trump asked Zelensky to “do us a favor.” Most American outlets covered this news from Washington, D.C. Trump, Inc. covered it from Kyiv. Our co-host Ilya Marritz had bought a ticket there months before, to pursue a basic question: what is the connection between Trump-world and Ukraine. Paul Manafort’s puzzling real estate purchases in New York City were ultimately traced back to his earnings in Ukraine. Michael Cohen had business relationships there. Rudy Giuliani had been traveling to Kyiv for over a decade.
