In 2017, Foxconn Technology Group, the world’s largest contract manufacturer of consumer electronics, announced plans to build a 20-million-square-foot complex and create 13,000 jobs in southeastern Wisconsin, in exchange for $3 billion in state tax credits — one of the largest deals ever made between a U.S. state and a private company — and nearly $1 billion in local incentives.
