IRE Member listening session on disability, accessibility and inclusion
IRE is hosting its first virtual listening session for members living with disabilities, chronic and/or and mental health conditions. This event aims to foster an open dialogue and understanding of those unique experiences and the challenges and opportunities they may present, as we seek to better serve these members. This is also an opportunity to share ideas and feedback on accessibility and inclusion with IRE leadership, especially as we work to build a new website in the coming year. This listening session is an effort of IRE’s first-ever accessibility and inclusion subcommittee, which will be tackling some of the issues and ideas generated from this event.
Participants will be able to submit questions anonymously before the event by filling out this form or speaking directly with IRE staff, board members and volunteers during the event.
All participants must agree to IRE’s Code of Conduct. You do not have to disclose your relationship to the disability community or any conditions you have in order to participate. All information shared regarding your identity will be kept private. If there are any access needs we can accommodate, please email training@ire.org at least one week before the event. We will provide closed captioning within Zoom and have a chat option for people who want or need to communicate non-verbally.
Speakers include:
Pauline Arrillaga, National Center on Disability and Journalism, Executive Director
Diana Fuentes, IRE & NICAR, Executive Director
Josh Hinkle, IRE Board vice president; Member Services Committee chair
