Diversity Fellowships

Provides assistance to the AccessFest Virutal Conference, October 17-19, 2024, NICAR Conference, March 6-9, 2025 in Minneapolis, MN, and to the IRE Conference, June 19-22, 2025 in New Orleans, LA.

Description

The Diversity Fellowships are funded by the Philip L. Graham Fund, the IRE Diversity Development Fund and individual donors. The goal of the fellowships is to increase the diversity of IRE’s membership.

Who is eligible?

Journalists, educators and students of color, those who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, and/or with disabilities are eligible to apply.

What does the fellowship provide?

For attending the conference in-person, the fellowship includes:

  • One-year IRE membership/renewal ($25-75 value)
  • Complimentary conference registration 
  • Four hotel nights ($932-956 value)
  • Travel stipend ($500)

For attending the Access Fest 2024 virtually, the fellowship includes:

  • One-year IRE membership/renewal ($25-75 value)
  • Complimentary conference registration 

Required application materials:

  • LinkedIn page or link to resume
  • Links to two clips showcasing investigative work (for journalists)
  • Description how the training will be put to use for students (for educators)
