Ten newsrooms have been chosen to receive custom watchdog training through IRE’s Total Newsroom Training program.
TNT provides two days of intensive, in-house training for small and medium-sized newsrooms dedicated to watchdog journalism. This is the fifth year IRE has offered the free program, which is supported through a grant.
IRE also awarded three TNT Fellowships for IRE’s data analysis and mapping boot camps next week. Applications will be open by September for TNT alumni to attend boot camps in January or March. The fellowships cover much of the cost of attending IRE's week-long data training sessions in Columbia, Missouri.
TNT newsroom training is customized and includes two days of sessions ranging from public records battles to hands-on data analysis.
The newsrooms were chosen from more than 50 applications this year.
"We are excited to work with newsrooms that are so eager to sharpen their watchdog skills," IRE Executive Director Doug Haddix said. "The winning newsrooms all have a strong commitment from management to support the training, as well a pledge to nurture investigative reporting moving forward."
Congratulations to the winning newsrooms:
And to the winners of the boot camp fellowships:
Looks like you haven't made a choice yet.
