Description

In February 1995, The Cincinnati Enquirer published the two-day series Parole: The Easy Out, the result of a computer-assisted examination of Ohio's parole system. Among the findings: more than 500 murderers had been paroled in the past decade, and they served an average of less than 12 years in prison with some serving only four or five years. Such an examination can be undertaken in most states, provided their parole and probation records are maintained on a computer. This handout provides some helpful tips on what to get and what to look for.
