Description

Maryland voters are increasingly rejecting the two major parties in registering and more willing to vote for minor parties at the polls. From 1998 to 1996, the numbers registering in a minor party or as independents jumped 55.5 percent. Meanwhile, over the same span of time, the number of votes cast for minor-party presidential candidates increased nearly 1,000 percent. (December 20, 1996)
