Description

The high pressure world of recruiting at the high school level in Colorado. In Colorado top athletes jump from school to school, jilted coaches seethe, starry-eyed parents shop their kids to the hot programs, and illegal recruiting builds powerhouse teams, because of the Colorado's 10-year-old open-enrollment law and one of the most lenient athletic-transfer rules in the nation. Under this system, the students are allowed to play for four schools in four years without ever changing their home address. In 2000, roughly 2,600 Colorado students swapped high schools without relocating to those attendance areas, and about half of those transfers were made for athletic reasons.
