Description

The Bulletin chronicles the effects of nuclear tests conducted in the atmosphere in Nevada between 1951-1958. Although areas near the Nevada Test Site were most often contaminated, newly released data show that virtually the entire continental United States was affected and "hot spots" occurred because rainstorms sometimes caused locally heavy deposits of fallout. Children in areas as far away as the Midwest and New England were exposed. As a result, many thousands of today's adults are at risk of developing thyroid cancer.
