Description

Since going public in 1971, Waste Management has been obsessed with its stock price. During the 1980s it positioned itself as a classic growth company, and its shares soared. The company, however, was using overly aggressive accounting tactics in an effort to boost sagging earnings. Waste Management was founded by Wayne Huizenga, who also founded the Blockbuster video chain.
