All four articles explore the aspects of crime and punishment in Colorado and raise issues about the nature of the underlying crimes and the appropriateness of the criminal justice system's response. The first two deal with questions of whether the sentences matched the crime in a notorious murder case and in an obscure robbery spree. The other two are more closely related on violence within a special transitional unit of the state's supermax prison.
