IRE will present two regional workshops this fall to help you get ready for Census 2010 data and learn how to use annual census surveys to produce compelling enterprise stories. The full-day workshops will be held Oct. 16 in Washington, D.C (full details and registration here) and Nov. 13 in Cincinnati, Ohio (full details and registration here).
Print, broadcast and online journalists can use census data for quick-hit, enterprise and investigative stories on nearly any beat. Each full-day workshop will offer nitty-gritty details of the 2010 Census and the annual American Community Survey (ACS), as well as plenty of story ideas and resources. You’ll leave the workshop fully armed to mine the 2010 Census and ACS for trends and data that will give you the edge over your competition.
Cost is $40 for professionals and $20 for students. The fee includes a boxed lunch and a one-year IRE membership (valued at $60 for professionals and $25 for students).
Trainers will be Paul Overberg, database editor and demographics analyst for USA TODAY, and Doug Haddix, IRE training director.
Special thanks to the Gannett Foundation, for its financial support for the workshops, and our local hosts: American University and The Cincinnati Enquirer.
