Getting started with JavaScript

In this workshop, you'll learn not only basic JavaScript fundamentals, but some larger programming fundamentals, too. You'll learn about variables, if/else logic, functions and more. You'll also learn about JavaScript programming shortcuts using JavaScript libraries, such as jQuery. You'll also be shown examples of projects built using JavaScript, so you'll know what is possible.

Speaker Bios

  • Andy Boyle is a writer and web developer. Before becoming the Director of Product Engineering at the Chicago Sun-Times, and was the Senior Director of Systems Architecture at Axios. Before that, he worked at Breaking News, the Chicago Tribune, the Boston Globe, the St. Petersburg Times, and The New York Times Regional Media Group, where his work was cited in the 2012 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News. He is the author of two books through Penguin Random House, ADULTHOOD FOR BEGINNERS and BIG PROBLEMS.
