Speaker Bios

  • Gary Baum is a senior writer at The Hollywood Reporter, where he primarily focuses on the intersection of the entertainment industry and the Southern California region. The Los Angeles Press Club has repeatedly recognized his investigative work since joining THR in 2011. He previously worked at Angeleno magazine and is a graduate of the Annenberg School of Journalism at the University of Southern California. @garymbaum

  • Daniel Lathrop is a professor of journalism at the University of Iowa. Prior to joining the academy, he spent 15 years in print and online newsrooms including the Center for Public Integrity, The Dallas Morning News and the Seattle P-I. His work has won numerous national awards, and he contributes as a freelance reporter to publications such as FiveThrityEight, The Marshall Project and The New York Times. @lathropd
