With any good investigation, you have to tell a story, not a scoop. Scoops are reported. Stories are told. This sessions tackles writing, character development and story structure for both print and broadcast so that you can turn your investigation into a great tale that will grip readers and viewers.

Speaker Bios

  • Julian Sher is a veteran documentary director, newsroom trainer and the author of six books. He was an investigative reporter for the Toronto Star and the Globe and Mail and his articles also appeared in the New York Times and USA Today. For five years, he was the Senior Producer at CBC's The Fifth Estate, Canada's premier investigative program. He has trained in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe and North America.
