You want it. They have it. How do you get it? In this session, a public records expert and a journalist discuss the best ways to get to "yes." They'll help you tackle common roadblocks, including excessive fee estimates, broken deadlines and other shenanigans. They'll also share strategies on how to keep track of multiple requests at the same time.

Speaker Bios

  • Heather Catallo is an award-winning investigative reporter whose work has changed laws, imprisoned criminals, prompted FBI investigations, led to major government reforms and held public officials accountable. She is the recipient of some of journalism's highest honors, including the duPont-Columbia Award. Heather has won 11 Emmy awards, including an Emmy for Best Reporter and Best Investigative Reporter. @HeatherCatallo

  • Jennifer Dukarski focuses her practice at the intersection of technology and communications with an emphasis on legal issues arising from disruptive innovation including mobility; artificial intelligence; data privacy and security; infotainment and digital media; and the Internet of Things. She assists clients in traditional media issues including defamation, privacy, access, publicity rights, the Freedom of Information Act, the Open Meetings Act and FERPA. @JDukarski
