How the IRE Conference comes together, in pictures

After months of planning, the final pieces of the IRE Conference all come together on a very busy Wednesday.

It starts with boxes. Shipped from the IRE offices in Columbia, Mo., and elswhere, those boxes reside with one of the host organizations -- this year the San Antonio Express-News -- until they’re hauled over to the conference site and IRE staff members unload them one by one.

The staff then disperses. They unpack boxes. They stuff 1,100 gift bags. They install software, string power and internet cables and tape them down, re-tape them and then tape them again.

Here’s a brief look, in pictures, at the conference setup day.

The 2013 IRE Conference landed in San Antonio, Texas as the hometown team, the Spurs, play in the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat. Game 7 is Thursday night.
