Announcing the 2024 Philip Meyer Award winners

IRE’s annual Philip Meyer Journalism Award recognizes the best use of social science research methods in journalism. This year, we are recognizing five investigative projects, which will be honored at the 2025 NICAR Conference, March 7 in Minneapolis:

Second place: Center for Public Integrity in collaboration with Reveal, Mother Jones and PRX
Third place: The Dallas Morning News and the San Antonio Express-News

It was an unprecedented year. Just months before, President Richard Nixon became the first U.S. president to resign after the Watergate Scandal. U.S. forces had recently left Vietnam, and the 30-year conflict was approaching its end.
