IRE is heading to Utah for the Jeff German Investigative Workshop, April 11-12.
The workshop at Weber State University in Ogden, Utah, will begin on a Friday morning and continues through Saturday with half-day training in Google Sheets.
This regional workshop is named in honor of the late Jeff German, a longtime IRE member killed in 2022 by a county official German had investigated. The workshop is made possible through the Jeff German Fund for Investigative Journalism and co-sponsored by Weber State University's Lindquist College of Arts & Humanities.
An amendment to the IRE Code of Bylaws has been proposed that would allow the appointment of a financial professional to the IRE Board's Finance Committee.
Currently, the bylaws require all seven members of the committee to be IRE members. Treasurer Mark Greenblatt is proposing the change to give the committee a broader base of expertise to fulfill its responsibilities in overseeing IRE’s finances.
The Code of Bylaws can be amended by a two-thirds vote of the board, but the membership must have at least 30 days’ notice to submit comments before a vote is taken. Send comments to mark.greenblatt@asu.edu or sarah.h.cohen@gmail.com. Sarah Cohen, a past president of IRE, is chair of the board’s Governance Committee.
