Pitch an idea for NICAR Commons at IRE 2016

We’re bringing the popular NICAR Commons series to the IRE Conference in New Orleans – and we want your ideas! NICAR Commons is a space for informal, conversation-driven sessions. Most importantly, each conversation is driven entirely by attendees.

NICAR Commons sessions are:

  • 1-hour long with 10-minute breaks in between.
  • Designed for small groups: There will only be 10-15 chairs, but people are welcome to sit/stand nearby.
  • Run by a facilitator who comes with an agenda and guides the conversation.

What types of things make for good NICAR Commons sessions?

  • This is a great space for discussions you might not hold in a typical panel setting and share things in a more personal environment.
  • Alternately, a facilitator can just pose a question and create a space for people to ponder it. We found that personal questions really resonated and elicited honest answers. If you're struggling with something, chances are other folks are, too.

See what kinds of sessions we hosted in this space at the 2016 CAR Conference in Denver. Please also browse the 2016 IRE Conference schedule to make sure your idea is not already in the works.

Submit your ideas by Monday, May 30. IRE will review the ideas and contact you if your idea was selected.

If you have questions, please contact Sarah Hutchins at sarah@ire.org.
