Description

Did you know that Muslims are America's youngest and most diverse faith community? That 60 percent of Muslim-Americans are born in the US and 86 percent are citizens? That frequent mosque attendance is linked to less radicalization? That Muslim-American women are far more educated than Muslim-American men? Journalists are missing these and other important stories about Muslim communities in the U.S. — which are comprised of 3.3 million people. Hear from a Muslim leader and a co-director of the AAJA Muslim America Task Force who explains why this is happening, how to find these missing stories and tell them in meaningful and impactful ways. These tools will take your newsroom's enterprise reporting to another level and the lessons apply to covering any marginalized community. This panel was planned in collaboration with the Asian American Journalists Association.
