This class will give attendees a jumping-off point to launch an investigative podcast. Tailored for reporters who do not yet have a deep background in audio reporting, Launching an Investigative Podcast seminar attendees will learn how to take a great investigation and turn it into a mult-part, narrative podcast. Investigative reporter Megan Cloherty and Digital Editor Jack Moore of WTOP, along with the Scripps Washington Bureau’s senior national investigative correspondent Mark Greenblatt and bureau chief Ellen Weiss will take attendees through:

*How to spot if a good investigation will also make a good podcast

*How to divide the work up

*Planning out episodes

*Building an immersive narrative arc, along with cliffhangers that drive audiences to come back

*Technical Workshop: What affordable equipment do you need, and how you can use it best in the field

*Business Basics: The keys to successful pitching, marketing, and cross-promotion of your podcast

*Expert Lightning Round: Hear tips from successful podcasters around the nation, in a quick-hit fashion
