Description

Despite learning more than three years ago that perhaps dozens of homes in a wealthy development on Colorado Springs’ coveted west side were slowly sinking, heaving and flooding, city planners and regional building staff allowed development to continue uninterrupted. The development, called Gold Hill Mesa, sits atop a century old mine tailings pile. No other development like it exists in the country. Already nearly 500 homes stand there with an estimated population of 1400 people and hundreds more are slated to be built.
