The series exposed high-volume cosmetic surgery clinics that have helped transform Florida into a national destination for plastic surgery even as they violated safety standards, leading to dozens of injuries and deaths. Survivors of medical malpractice were stuck paying the cost – financially, physically and psychologically – when their doctors failed to carry malpractice liability insurance, a common cost-saving measure in South Florida plastic surgery clinics.
